Meet Our Team!

Nurturing Spokane’s Littlest Learners with Heart, Experience, and Purpose

Meet Our Team

At Journey Discovery Center, we believe that high-quality early childhood education begins with a strong, connected team. Our educators are more than just teachers—they are mentors, caregivers, and partners in your child’s growth. Together, we create a community where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to discover the world around them.

Meet Our Founder

Meet Our Team

Journey Discovery Center was founded in 2010 by Nicole Sohn, a dedicated mother of two boys and a lifelong champion for early childhood education. With more than 25 years of hands-on experience in childcare, Nicole opened Journey to provide Spokane families with a learning environment grounded in play, community, and connection.

Beyond her role as owner and director, Nicole is a passionate advocate at both the state and federal levels—working to influence policies that expand access to affordable, high-quality early learning for all children. Her leadership has helped shape Journey into a program that not only serves families, but strengthens the broader community.

Meet Our Teachers

Passionate - Experienced - Community-Focused

Our teaching team is the heart of Journey. Each member brings a unique blend of professional expertise, warmth, and genuine passion for early childhood development. With a deep understanding of child-led learning, social-emotional development, and responsive caregiving, our teachers go above and beyond to meet every child where they are.

We’re proud of our team’s longevity and dedication—many of our educators have been part of the Journey family for years, offering consistency, trust, and continuity in care. Supported by strong leadership and ongoing professional development, our staff is empowered to grow alongside the children they serve.

Award Winning Workplace Culture

We’re honored to be voted one of the “Best Places to Work in the Inland Northwest” for three years running—ranking #7 in 2024. This recognition reflects not just the quality of our program, but the supportive and collaborative culture we’ve cultivated behind the scenes. We believe that happy, valued educators create the most enriching experiences for children.
